Inversion
With a game like this people are bound to say its a Gears Of War clone. To those people I say you are absolutely right! Inversion is almost an ugly step child of better games that came before it (almost better) Ill start with the basics. You are a forgettable character in a fake city and well all the "emotion" is undoubtedly fake. You are a cop going home to give his little girl her birthday present before she gets slaughtered...er I meant goes to bed, well guess what, an odd race of people who I can only assume were stolen directly from rage, decide they'd like to fuck shit up. That's where you come in...
Now with Max Payne you were thrown from game play to cut scene and it worked. Inversion tries the same method but does is quite horribly. The action early on especially is broken up by poorly voice acted cut scenes. Its really jarring to be in the process of shooting someone in the face just to be thrown into a cut scene.
The game play itself isn't bad albeit a little un original. Its pretty much GOW except glitchier. The main mechanic that Inversion relies on wears thin rather quickly. An hour or so into the game you get the Inversion pack. What this does is it allows you to change the gravity of a specific area. For example if there is a group of enemies you can shoot the device at the and lower their gravity level thus making the float. If you are being suppressed and need cover you can make gravity heavier and pull down a crate for cover. It admittedly sounds cool. The issue is you don't get to use your imagination. Its very linear, even your cover is linear.
Overall the game isn't horrible, but its very generic. There is fun to be had but by the end of the game I really just wanted it to end.
