Ghost Recon Future Soldier

Image
For many gamers the ghost recon franchise is as important to them as say the Counterstrike or Battlefield games.  The Ghost games had great multi player to them and with the latest installment it brings it back to the forefront with more of a high octane movie feel than a video game feel.  Fear not however, Future Soldier is not simply a call of duty rip off, in fact I believe more care was put into this game than the latest Call Of Duty shovel ware.  As expected you play as a four team ghost squad sent on various mission tackling various targets and objectives.  Whether you're in Russia investigating a "deactivated base" or trying to rescue a CIA operative the game delivers a grand spectacle of death and bullets, without sacrificing what is true to the series, strategy.  Within your four team group you can designate targets and line up your shots together.  Doing this is incredibly satisfying, made better by a slow motion death shot when all four memb...

Chernobyl Diaries(spoilers)

Image
I would like to start by saying if this movie were actually a video game it could have been very decent, with that said well....yeah      Lets start at the very tipidy top of this shit fest.  Produced by  Oren Peli, he's the dude who directed and produced the paranormal activity movies.  This however was directed by Brad Parker, he's never directed a movie before...it shows. The issue is unlike those movies that have their niche this diaries does not.  It stands in a middle ground, not quite a handy cam movie and not quite a real movie.  To their credit they found a nice isolated area in Russia (I assume) to film thats however the only real good thing about this piece of garbage.  Well that's not true the first 45 minutes or so feature a pretty funny and rather well acted character named Uri ( Dimitri Diatchenko) this guy has more credit than anyone in this movie.  Check him out hes been in tons of video games.  Oh and Jess...

What the fuck happened to Linkin Park?

Image
In late October of the year 2000, Linkin Park debuted with their first full-length CD.  Needless to say, it was a success.  Selling over 4.8 million copies in the first year Linkin Park skyrocketed to success.  They had an edgy brand of ALT-rock.  Among the crunchy guitars, dual vocals, and electronics Linkin Park was a band on a war path.  My question is what happened?  I'm not going to break down each CD track by track only because re-listening to most of it has the potential to make my ears bleed and make me seriously contemplate cutting my wrists.  Instead ill go over highlights of all cds as well as go over how shitty the band has become. The beginning- Hybrid Theory as a whole is a ferocious yet soft album.  Chester Bennington had the energy as well as the soul to sing the softer parts.  (Also, he sounded like he ate a jar of razors a day)  There really isn't a bad thing I want to say about Hybrid Theory, I loved that album....

Demon Hunter-True Defiance

Image
Demon Hunter's sixth studio album comes out strong slows down towards end. For many fans of Demon Hunter liking this album will most like be determined on what style of demon hunter you enjoy.  Being a fan of the original album more that the others I'm only half entertained by this album.  The first four tracks in my opinion are the best.  Crucifix, god forsaken, My destiny, and wake are all driven by the metal anger that christian bands have.  Rather than speaking about sex, drugs, and Rock N' Roll Demon Hunter speaks on more serious subjects. Crucifix- is a sobering song about the greed, and ungodliness in the world.  A strong song however its a bit preacher (especially if you're not religious) God Forsaken-Same dark tone as crucifix except more personal, this song is more melodic.its more about inner struggle than general society shit. My Destiny- This song has a solid double bass beat throughout.  The main verses have a very screamo pun...

The Grey

Image
Ok so if you're an action fan then you've undoubtedly heard of Liam Neeson.  As of late hes been starring in one high octane action movie after another.  Taken's blu ray (one of my favorites) literally has a body count special feature.  With that said The Grey is an entirely different movie.  I'm going to try to give you an honest review without giving to much away.  The story begins with Neeson working on an Alaskan oil rig.  His whole job is to shoot wolves who get to close to the workers.  (are there seriously that many wolves)  Anyways hes a sad fellow who to put it nicely wants a quick exit from life.  He decides to take the next plane to the closest town to do whatever he wants to do when all of a sudden his plane crashes.  Now just saying his plane crashes is an understatement.  This is one of the most tense, scary, and realistic crash scenes I've ever seen on film.  It will never been shown as your in flight movie....

Max Payne 3

Image
Oddly enough this review can be virtually summed up with two words.  Max Payne!  Formally a Remedy product Max Payne has had a nine year hiatus.  Rock Star has now taken the reigns and used their excellent development staff to create a wonderful if not simple title. Max Payne 3 drops you into a new more emotional Max.  By day he drinks himself to a fuzz and by night he eats painkillers to numb himself.  Still not over the events of the first game  he is now a full blown alcoholic.  This time He is in Brazil doing security gigs for the wealthy Bronco family.  Unfortunately for max its not as simple as booze babes and well booze.  I want to stress this Max is always getting his ass kicked.   As the game and story progress we switch back and forth from present to past explaining how max ended up in Brazil, why he no longer resides in New York, and how he met his new friend Passos.  The big thing about max p...
